Kyle Casey - NCAA Basketball Lines: Brown Bears vs Harvard Crimson

The Harvard Crimson will try to bounce back from a tough loss, as they play host to the Brown Bears in Ivy League tussle this evening at Lavietes Pavilion in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The Crimson leads the all-time series, one that dates back to the 1900-01 campaign, by a count of 91-74. Harvard has won five in a row, including a 68-59 triumph at the Pizzitola Sports Center on January 28 in the first matchup of the season. The Crimson hit 48.9 percent of their field goal attempts and converted 20-of-23 at the charity stripe to ease past Brown in that contest.

Head coach Jesse Agel and his Bears continue to search for answers, as they bring a five-game losing streak into this affair. Brown dropped a 72-63 decision to Cornell last Saturday, saddling the team with a 7-18 overall record, which includes a dismal 1-7 league ledger. The Bears shot just 39 percent from the field in the loss to the Big Red, which makes it now three games in a row that they have been held under 40 percent shooting. Brown is being outscored by a league-worst 7.2 ppg this season.

Sean McGonagill paces the Bears with 14.0 points and 5.7 assists per game. McGonagill missed last weekend's games with a concussion, but could make an impactful return tonight. Andrew McCarthy contributes 10.5 points and a team- high 7.6 rebounds per game. Stephen Albrecht and Matt Sullivan get into the mix for Brown as well. Sullivan has averaged 19 points and 4.5 made three- pointers in his last two games.

Head coach Tommy Amaker and his Crimson suddenly feel pressure after dropping a 70-62 decision to Princeton last Saturday. Harvard still owns an impressive 21-3 overall record, but only has a one-game advantage in the Ivy League standings with a 7-1 mark versus conference foes. The Crimson lost their first league tilt as they struggled to slow down Princeton last week, the Tigers tying a season-high for output by a Harvard opponent (70 points). The Crimson has been successful this season due in large part to its stifling defensive effort, which ranks the team fourth in the country with an average yield of 54.2 ppg.

Kyle Casey leads Harvard with 11.0 ppg on 52.4 percent shooting from the field. Keith Wright is close behind with 10.6 ppg, and he reels in a team-best 8.1 rpg. Laurent Rivard and Brandyn Curry are both excellent role players for Harvard, with the latter netting 15 points and handing out four assists in the loss to Princeton last Saturday. Corbin Moore was a big factor off the bench in last weekend's pair of games, as he scored 17 against Penn before chipping in eight versus Princeton.

Harvard's hiccup against the Tigers will soon be forgotten as it conquers Brown tonight. With or without McGongill, the Bears are going to have difficulty lighting up the scoreboard against what will be an energized home team.
